Abstract: The article is devoted to clarifying the important characteristics of the Ukrainian households’ well-being: the degree of satisfaction of needs in food and in goods created in the health care. The approaches of the article are based on the regularity of the deconcentration of consumer expenditures through the welfare of households increasing.

Accordingly, the reduction in the income elasticity of food consumption is interpreted as a critically important sign of trends in changes in well-being caused by the expansion or reduction in the consumption of a certain goods. Calculations were made separately for a group of households with equivalent per-capita incomes up to UAH 7,000 per month and for those households whose per capita income is higher than UAH 8,000. The results of the elasticity coefficients estimation made it possible to substantiate that the inequality of access to food did not undergo significant changes during the studied period, however, the poorest households reduced the absolute amount of food consumption against the background of the increase in the share of expenditures on this product group as a part of aggregate consumer expenditures.

Absolute amount of consumption of goods, created by "health care" for the period 20142022 on average across all households in Ukraine was increased significantly outpacing the growth of real income (150.6 % growth in amounts of consumption against 118.7 % growth rates of real income), which is characteristic of goods that belong to the "luxuries" category. At the same time, the consumption of these goods concerning to the poorer households grew faster than similar indicator for wealthier ones. However, a more balanced assessment of changes in the inequality of access to the paid healthcare sector requires further research, due to the fact that the database used reflects only "out-ofpocket" spending, which underestimates the scale of consumption and relevant spending of wealthier households.
