Abstract: Steady and long-term trends in urban development require an update of the methodology for studying urban processes. The digitalization of public space, the growing scale of urbanization and the increasing requirements for the environmental safety of urban space pose a challenge to city authorities and lead to changes in approaches to urban development strategy. The relevance of the article is determined by the weakness of the scientific foundations of urban space management and the narrow methodology of researching modern urban processes. It is proved that the inability of the existing tools to regulate urban development in the strategic dimension is due to the lack of a scientific basis for the strategic management of urban development. The aim of the article is to highlight modern urban processes and to reveal approaches to strategic urban management in Ukraine. It is recommended to modify the system of strategic management of urban development in Ukraine on the basis of strengthening the implicit nature of urban policy and modernizing the methodology of urban processes research.
