Abstract: This article outlines the main ethical challenges facing higher education in the context of digital transformation. It argues that changes driven by the rapid development of digital technologies and the active integration of artificial intelligence into the educational process create new opportunities for learning, scientific research, and global collaboration, but at the same time give rise to various ethical challenges. Particular attention is paid to the problem of the digital divide as a factor in unequal access to educational opportunities (disparities in the use of high-speed internet, modern equipment, digital platforms, and high-quality online content). The study emphasizes the particular relevance of examining digital divides in the context of Ukraine, where such inequality is growing due to the consequences of the war: uneven access to infrastructure, forced distance learning, and student migration. An analysis of the challenges associated with the application of artificial intelligence in the educational process was conducted, and key ethical dilemmas were identified: issues of academic integrity, algorithm transparency, personal data protection, and the transformation of the teacher’s role. The aim of this article is to provide a comprehensive analysis of ethical challenges in higher education in connection with its digitalization and to identify ways to overcome them. It is emphasized that researching ways to manage digital divides and developing university policies for the application of artificial intelligence is a strategically important task for the future of education, one that can only be addressed at an interdisciplinary level. It is recognized that education for sustainable development requires the creation of a space for alternative ways of thinking, valuing, imagining, and acting — an ethos that underpins contemporary commitments to transformative and emancipatory pedagogy in higher education. This entails rethinking the key roles of the university as a response to the ethical challenges in the higher education system in the context of digitalization
