Abstract: The article examines the impact of the legal regime regulating digital currencies on the level of economic development of countries within the framework of cross-country analysis. The relevance of the topic is due to the rapid spread of digital assets, the growing role of cryptocurrencies in the global financial system and the lack of unified international approaches to their regulation. The article analyzes the main models of state policy in the field of digital currencies: restrictive, partial legalization model and integrated regulatory model. The theoretical basis of the study was the provisions of institutional economics, according to which the transparency of rules, the predictability of the regulatory environment and the quality of institutions form the conditions for economic growth and investment activity. The methodological part is based on the use of econometric modeling by the least squares method (LSM) using spatial data for 2023.
The study used GDP per capita, consumer price index, foreign direct investment volumes and the regulatory status of digital currencies. To ensure the correctness of the assessment, a logarithmic transformation was applied to individual variables. The results of the model showed a statistically significant positive impact of regulatory certainty of digital currencies on the level of economic development of countries. The important role of foreign investment as a factor of economic growth was also confirmed and the negative impact of inflationary processes was revealed.Special attention is paid to the significance of the results for Ukraine, which is at the stage of forming its own system of regulation of digital assets and harmonizing legislation with the European regulatory framework MiCA. It is concluded that the formation of a transparent and predictable legal environment in the field of digital currencies can become an important tool for increasing investment attractiveness, developing the digital economy and ensuring long-term economic growth.
